Otis Moore was a Saturday night and Sunday night guest in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ford. Rev. Moore has accepted a pastorate in the Methodist church of Kenilworth, N. Y and came to Iowa for their furniture which was stored in Brandon. Don Johnson of Tipton, a personal friend of the Moores' took their household goods by truck for them. Rev. Moore accompanied him leaving on Wed- nesday. BERq~AM BUREAU MEETS Bertram township Farm Bureau met on Tuesday evening of last week in the Bertram hall. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ford were hosts for the meeting. Henry Dye present- ed a very interesting talk on the R.E.A. and Rev. C. F. Hartzell led a discussion on Farm Bureau Insur- ance. Refreshments concluded the meeting. Mrs. Oliver Dill was hostess for the meeting of the Friendship club on Wednesday afternoon. The af- ternoon was spent sewing. A guest speaker is promised, so a good crowd is desired. The Agriculture class from Lis- bon under the supervision of Mr. Sorenson were at work last week pruning trees at the Roy Light home and the John Light tenant farm tenanted by George Ferris. Mr. and Mrs. George Light and Mr and Mrs Homer Light attend- ed the Farmer's Banquet held at the Roosevelt Hotel Wednesday, the 26th. Very interesting entertain- ment was provided by Dempsy Jones and his gang from Cedar Rapids. Mr. and Mrs. Willard Light called at the Anton Novak home on Thurs- day. Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Cole and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Gritton were business visitors in Mechanicsville Tuesday. Miss Doris Evelyn Light was honored last Saturday afternoon at a birthday party at her home. All but four of her cousins came to help her celebrate her fifth birth- day. Games and entertainment for the afternoon were in charge of Faye Light. Prizes were awarded for several games. MECHANICSVILLE JOHNSON HOU---~--SELLS AT AUCTION FOR $1205 A large crowd from in town and country and from surrounding towns attended the Johnson sale of household "stuff" and property on Saturday. John Carpenter pur- chased the barn for $400.00. Mrs. Nicholasen the house for $1205.00, Bert Eagerty the adjoining lots where he plans to build coal sheds. Their oldest son Will Johnson from West Liberty bought the "what-not" for $20.00. Other things brought small amounts but all they were i worth. MRS. DONALD-~'CHELBERGER HONORED AT SHOWER Mrs. Geo. Dennis and Eleanor Eichelberger gave a miscellaneous shower for Mrs. Donald Eichelber- ger at the Dennis home on Friday night. 19 guests, friends and neigh- bors, enjoyed a happy evening to- gether. Many nice and useful gifts were presented the bride. Bunco was played, prizes going to Mrs. Peck of Olin and Mildred Lamp of this place. Mrs. Lowell Dauber gave a party at her home Friday afternoon for her little son, Richard, who was five years old that day. Seven little playmates and their mothers, his aunt, Mrs. Arthur Walshire, and his Grandma Leinen, also came to help him celebrate. After refresh- ments of cake, ice cream and choc- olate bunnies for favors, the child- ren enjoyed an Easter egg hunt. This was the height of their amusement. A pro- gram with Holland as the theme was enjoyed, each pupil taking part. A delicious tea was served by Miss Smith and the girls of the two grades.
