The picture in the June 28th issue has been identified as the Russell Bair farm southeast of Mt. Vernon. Russell Bair Farm i Pictured Last Week The Russell Bair farm, a mile southeast of ~,lt. Vernon. was pic- tured last week. Mrs. Ed Starry. Mr. Bair's sister, was 1he first to identify it for the Hawkeye. "That used to be the home farm, ' she said. Mr. Bair s and Mrs. Starry's par- ents, the W. H. Bairs. bought the farm from Ira Barnes in 1912 and moved there with their family from Ladora. Russell bought the farm from his father in 1932. His brother Carl had farmed it for 10 years The Russell Bairs were married in 1925 and farmed the Frank Watson place for two years and then the present Charles Sankot place for two years before they moved to the present farm. About 65 acres of the 95 in the farm are crop ground and the rest is permanent and timber pasture. There are around 25 acres of corn 22 of hay and 12 of oats.
