major surgery last week in St.
Luke's hospital, in Cedar Rapids,
returned to her hmhe Tuesday. She
is recovering nicely. Mrs. J. E.
Fawcett of Dubuque, mother of Mrs.
Hartong, is here with the Hartongs.
Mary Bowman, daughter of the
Roy Bowmans, will return Friday
evening from her vacation in Chi-
cago, where she was fortunate to
see big league games, "South Pa-
cific' and the centennial observance
in east Chicago. She will go to Hit-
aga on Sunday and Richard and
Robert will go to Camp Wapsie-Y.
Monday forenoon callers in the
Milton Koch home were former
residents of this vicinity. They
were Mrs. Daisy Proctor and her
daughters, Mrs. Minnie Jones and
Mrs. Rowena Estill of Alburnett,
and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Ennis of
Potomas, Ill who were guests in
the Proctor home. Mrs. Proctor's
home in this vicinity was near the
Irwin Coppock residence and the
Ennis home was what is now the
Herbert Leigh home.
Farm Bureau Will Honor
Margaret Stewart Tuttle
two uncles, Charles Jones of Chi-
cago and Oene Jones of Mechanics-
ville; an aunt, Mrs. A. M. Kohl of
Mechanicsville, and several cousins.
His home has been in Springville
for the past 16 years. He has been
employed at the State Reformatory
at Anamosa for the past 10 years.
Services were held Tuesday after-
noon at the Methodist church in
Margaret Stewart Tuttle, Farm
Bureau Home Economist, will be
honored Saturday, July 14, at 8 p.m.
at the Youth Center, Hawkeye
I Downs, Cedar Rapids. The affair
will observe Mrs. Turtle's comple-
tion of 10 years of service in Linn
~lCo. and also be a farewell to her.
Mrs. Turtle has resigned and the
board, with regrets, accepted the
resignation at their July 2rid meet-
ing. She plans to leave her work
Sept. 1 to make her home on a farm
in Washintogn Co.
In submitting her resignation Mrs.
Tuttle stated "It is always hard to
leave so many friends and work that
one has enjoyed so much. However,
wish to join my husband, who

son in charge, assisted by the Rev.
C. B. Willming. Interment was
in the Springville cemetery.
