coast. Mr. Warren's father, C. N.
Warren, who had been visiting in
the Trawls home for several weeks,
returned to Chicago with them for
an indefinite visit.
Miss Evelyn Hodgson will return
to Emporia, Kansas on Saturday,
where she will resume her position
as reference librarian in Kansas
State Teachers college. She was
granted a leave of absence during
the summer session to attend the
State University of Iowa at Iowa
City, for graduate study in history.
The remainder of the summer was
spent with her sister, Miss Lillie
Hodgson.
Mr. and Mrs. John Laing and
children, Jimmie and Nancy re-
turned last week from a pleasant
summer spent at Sandusky, Ohio.
Part of the time was spent at the
Charles Melville home in Sandusky
and the latter part was spent on the
farm of Mrs. Laing's mother, Mrs.
James Melville, near Sandusky.
Jimmie spent an interesting week
in Camp Perry, located along Lake
Erie, where he took lessons in rifle
shootitng.
Dr. and Mrs. F. F. Ebersole re-
turned home last Friday night from
a five weeks vacation visit in the
west and Canada. Enroute to the
west coast they stopped over at
Salt Lake City and also visited
the Utah canyons. Most of their
time was spent with Mr. and Mrs.
James MacMurray at Pasadena. A
brief visit was made to the expo-
sition in San Francisco and Port-
land, Ore., Victoria, Banff, and
Lake Louise in Canada were visited
on the way home.
Rev. and Mrs. Lloyd Gustafson
and daughter Janice returned last
Friday night from a delightful va-
cation spent in California and other
western places of interest. During
the month of August Rev. Gustaf-
son supplied in the pulpit of the
First Methodist church in Sacra-
mento, Calif., while the pastor, Rev.
Raymond, Grant, was on vacation.
They resided in the parsonage dur-
ing their stay. A short time was
spent at the exposition in San Fran-
cisco. A visit was made to Lake
Louise and Regina, Canada enroute
home. They did not enjoy travel-
ing on the Canadian highways and
were glad to get back to the United
States' roads. They also visited
Portland, Oregon.

Bellwood, Ill., and Fred of Chi-
cago. He is survived also :by a
brother, Freemont Parker and a
twin sister Mrs. Clara Wharton,
both of Bennett and a sister, Mrs.
Laura Boys of Monte Vista, Colo.,
also several nieces and nephews.
Wrecked Streamliner Goes
Thru Here Enroute To Shops
The City of San Francisco,
streamliner train which was wreck-
ed on the night of August 12, in
Humboldt River canyon, near Car-
lin, Nevada, wcn~ through Mount
Vernon and Lisbon about 5 o'clock
on Friday evening enroute to the
Pullman shops at Chicago, where
it will be repaired.
All but one car of the train, the
I diner, were in the train which went
i through here. It was drawn by the
regular diesel power units of the
train. Some of the carsin" the
center of the train were badly
dented and the glass in the win-
dows was broken, it is reported.
The train operated under a speed
limit of 40 miles an hour.

The streamliner train which has
,taken the place of the damaged
regular train is made up of equip-
ment collected from several rail-
roads. The Union Pacific had an
l extra diesel power unit of two cars
:and also supplied a baggage car, a
coach and diner. The C & N. W.
provided an observation lounge
from its "Treasure Island". The
New York Central lent three room-
cars from its "Twentieth Century
Limited." The Pennsylvania lent
three from its "Broadway Limited."
The equipmen~ was repainted
and relettered in the familiar yel-
low and brown of the Northwest-
ern-Union Pacific streamliners.
The temporary train composed of
12 cars pulled out of the North-
western station in Chicago last
week wi~h more than one hundred
passengers on its first run.
Mrs. Chandler To Attend
Wedding Of Grand-Daughter
Mrs. S. L. Chandler left Wed-
nesday afternoon for 'Sioux City to
i attend the wedding of her grand
i daughter Miss Mary Margaret
iChandler, daughter of M~'. and
Mrs. Harry Chandler, to Edward
Vandenberg, of Sioux City. The
ceremony will occur in the chapel
of St. Thomas Episcopal church,
at 10:30 o'clock, Friday morning.
A small group of relatives and
friends will witness the ceremony.
The couple will leave immediate-
ly after the ceremony for l)urham,

coach at Grinnell college.
