Mrs. E. L. Serovy, Dick and De-
Lores of Cedar Rapids were Sun-
day dinner gueats in the Carl Sed-
lacek home. Afternoon callers were
the George Striteskys and LaVonne,
the R. C. Gatewoods, the John
Kvardas, Edward Reif, Fontelle
Pityer, of Cedar Rapids; C. Hersh-
berger, of Kalona; and Mr. and
Mrs. E. C. Reif, of Berwyn, 111.
Dr. and Mrs. Glenn Hartong, dis-
trict supt of the Methodist church
and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Joslin Of l
Clarence, daughter and son-in-law
of the Rev. and Mrs. A B. Cham-
berlin, attended the Methodist Fam-
ily Gathering in Chicago over the
week end. There were about 2300
in attendance from the various dis-
tricts in this country and foreign
countries.
Mrs J. R. Eyre returned to Iowa
City on Friday after a visit from
Wednesday with Dr. and Mrs, R. A.
Nelson. In Iowa City she was the
guest of Mrs. T. G. Caywood. Mrs.
Caywood and Mrs. Fredrick Kent
accompanied her to Mt. Vernon
and were luncheon guests Wednes-
day of Mrs. Irl Tubbs. Mrs. Eyre
is returning to her home in Osceola
from Iowa City.
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Carhart of
Pasadena, Cal called on friends
and relatives on Sunday and Man.

and called on Miss Mary Gaudy in
Cedar Rapids and on the Charles
Randall Mrs. Carhart was Ethel
Kyle of Mt. Vernon. Both were
members of the class of 1915 at

Chas. G. Bach an in remitting
for his Hawkeye from McAllen,
Texas, says that the Rio Grande
Valley of Texas is coming back
after the freeze last spring and
drought. Eleven inches of rain fell
in 48 hours recently with some
flooding. It is cooler there now
after a hot summer On account
ef a funny labor situation there
will be little vegetable planting, he
says.
Jim Klimo of Los Angeles, Calif
is visiting in the parental John
Klimo home. Immediately after
his arrival a week ago he organ-
ized some help and installed a
dandy TV set for his father to en-
joy while he is confined to his
home. Jake had been very im-
t pressed with television when he had
first viewed it in Chicago and will
find many hours of good musical
prog:ams to help him pass the time,
campus people. Tickets will be
available Friday and Saturday
at Main hall.
Last on the agenda for the week-
end are the social group breakfasts
which will be held on Sunday
morning.

Wednesday 2:30, the W.S.C.S. Cir-
cles will meet.
At the service last Sunday, the
children of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Beni-
schek received Christian baptism
They are Patricia Ann, Connie Lou
and Leo Edward II. The infant
daughter of Mr. and Mrs Leo Kirk-
patrick, Diane Louise, also received
Christian baptism.
FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH

At noon there will be a congre-I
gational dinner. All families are in-
vited to pack a basket and bring
provisions. All interested are wel-
come.
Following the dinner a business
meeting is called by the Board of
Trustees to hear and take action on
their recommendation on the organ.

Circles of P.W.O. will meet Wed-
nesday afternoon as announced else-
where . . . Cub Scouts will meet
Thursday evening in the church
basement.
Presbytery has named Dr. Bean
Moderator of the Linn Grove
church. Claude Klaver continues to
serve as student supply of that con-
gregation.
