eral months in California and is en-
route to her home. Miss Freer en-
tertained at a small afternoon tea
in her honor on Tuesday afternoon.
Rev. J. J. Kidder occupied the
pulpit in the Methodist church in
Olin last Sunday. He substituted
for the Rev. Paul Brown whose
parents were killed last week in an
auto accident near Mason City.
Rev. K,dder went to Olin Saturday
and visited in the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Guy Macomber.
Mount Vernon received a good
amount of moisture the first three
days of the week, according to the
record of Dr. Nicholas Knight.
Sunday the recorded amount of
rainfall was one inch, and on Mon-
day the rain and snow was equiv-
alent to one inch of rain. Friday
and Saturday there was two inches
of rainfall.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Fisher spent
the week end visiting relatives in
Chicago, Ill. They were accom-
panied to Dyer, Ind., by Mr. and
Nlrs. Drew Dooms and sons Nor-
man and Bohbie who had been vis-
itors in their home for several

At Mrs. Burgstahler's
The annual guest day meeting
of the W.F.M.S. of the .Methodist
church was held at the homo of
Mrs. H. J. Burgstahler on the af-
ternoon of Novem.ber 2.
About fifty-five ladies were in
attendance. ~Mrs. Gustafson led in
a helpful dcvotioual service. *Mrs.
Chester Rich sang, accompanied by
'Mrs. Shroeder at the piano, a song
that was a favorite and used often
by the young people who attended
the Colorado Conference.
Mrs. E. R. Rlstine read the reso-
lutions of respect for Mrs. Alice
Fellows Rigby, which had 'been
prepared by a committec appointed
for that purpose. Mrs. Frank Cole
paid a touching tribute to Mrs. Rig-
by recalling unnumbered instances
of spiritual council and helpfulness
given as neighbor and friend.

from the college was enjoyed, She

Mrs. J. B. Eyestone gave an ac-
count of the Branch meeting held
recently at Kansas City, which was
attended by Mrs. Eyestone, Mrs.

especially of the hospitality shown

Training school of Missions where
the local ladies wore entertained.

meeting held at Sioux Falls, S. Dak.

BRIDAL SHOWER
The beautiful home of Mrs. De-
loris Thimmes Shaffer made a de-
lightful setting on Saturday even-
ing for a bridal shower, compli-
menting a recent bride, Mrs. Mar-
jury Davis Cook. About fifty in-
vitations were issued by the host-
ess, Mrs. Shaffer, who was assist-
ed by her mother, Mrs. Mamie
Thimmes and the bride's aunts,
Mrs. Claire Scott and Miss Pauline
Fairley. Following a social even-
ing in which guests played Chin-
ese Chinker Chex, a lovely lunch-
eon was enjoyed. The color
scheme was pink and white. A
large pink basket was then brought
in and was very graciously pre-
sented to the bride by her aunt,
Mrs. Claire Scott. Many of whom
were Brookside residents and form-
er neighbors of the bride, extend-
ed most sincere congratulations and
bid her welcome to our midst
again.
