OPINION (iF" LABOI{ PAPER
ON JOIIN L. LEWIS
Labor peace is dcsirable but not
on CIO tcrms according to the Ce-
dar l~apids Tribune, a labor paper
which says. "What Lcwis led the
ntass-production workers into was
a dim and distorted kind of ligh .
He led them into the sit down
strike. He led them into reliance
on strong-arm nlethods. He led
them into fellowship with Com-
munism and similar creeds. He
'persuaded them that they wouhl
gain by destroying the old and
honored and powerful A.F. of L.
"So if peace comes---and speed
the day!--it will be worse than no
peace at all if John L. Lewis is
allowed to dictate any of the terms.
The AFL owes Lewis no such fa-
vor; the American public owes him
nothing. His influence on the la-
~bor movement has been thoroughly
~ad."
Some men look their age, and
some don't---but a woman almost
always overlooks hers.--Ex,
Robert A. Walsh, and The Rever-
end Willard Johnson, held a panel
discussion for the high school stu-
dents.
The program was presented in
conversational style as the men
were seated about a table.
They talked mostly about preju-
dice, discussing some of the well
known beliefs such as: all Jews be-
ing rich, all Catholics being social-
ists, and communists, and many
others
At the end of their discussion
they answered questions asked by
various students.
The program was greatly enjoyed
by the entire student ~body.
ASSEMBI~Y
W'ednesday afternoon the Nation-
al Tuberculosis Association gave the
moving picture, "Let My People
IAw ' to the high schol students.
The Movie, with an all negro cast,
showed the disastrous effects of the
"white plague" among the negroes
and the importance of immediate
attention.
! After the movie the representa-
tiwL Mr. Dennis, gave a short talk
on tuberculosis.
Both the movie and the dlseus-
l sion were interesting and were
,greatly enjoyed by the students.
I
you've done for me."
"Good-bye, Mr. K ,"
"Good-bye."
Clang, clang goes the class bell
a few minutes later. "Whew,"
says Irene as she locks up for the
noon hour. "This certainly has
been a busy morning."
Then there is the baldheaded
man who sprinkles salt on his
shoulders to give the impression
that he has dandruff.--Ex.
