The President requested the Cabinet

To say that. the Springville people
are pleased with the new street lights
would hardly do them justice. They
were turned on for the first'time Satur»
day night, and we have yet to hear the
first. criticism. The contrast is So great
ovor the old oil lamps and the fact. that
the present lights cost but little more
than the old ones, makes effective crit-
icism impossible. There are now but
few dark pockets upon our streets. One
can see the time on a. watch (ll; almost
any point on any street. With water-
works, slectric lights, new business
blocks and increasing business, Spring-
villc people havo no occasion to feel
discouraged. Every indication leads
us to believe that 1899 will be our ban-
ner year both in material improvement
and in volume of business—New Era,
